Putting an effort.
Wanting to be a nurse.
I have never took a developmental math course but the math course I have took just paying close attention and took good notes.
What makes me successful is I’m willing to learn.
Studying very hard.
It prepares you for a higher level course.
They stared with the easiest things firs. They also made sure everyone knew what they were doing.
Teachers who explain the material step-by-step in a way that makes sense.
The way the math is taught or the way the teacher presents and covers material.
A teacher that takes time to explain.
Being able to understand and able to solve problems.
A teacher who takes her time and explains very simply and clearly.
It depends on how much you like math.
A good teacher to be successful.

The professors I have had have been great.
A teacher who explains things to you, and takes time to work with you until you GET IT!!!
The teacher I had was a good teacher. He could explain very good and showed examples of everything.

Yes, because I don’t want to get behind.

I attended regularly so I could pass the class and hopefully it will help me in this class.

4. What could the instructors do to help all Developmental Math students be more successful?
Make sure they know what is going on.
Make learning fun and interesting.
I would say one of the biggest things in learning math would be note taking. What I would do is make the instructor take class notes. Because if your notes aren’t the best then you are not going to understand.
Go over the math so they can understand it better.
The instructor I had done a wonderful job in helping with the students.
The instructor I had was the greatest, she was very thorough.
Make sure they understand it.
Make sure all students understand the material. Make sure the teacher and the student are “one the same page”.
To cover the material better (some not all instructors) helps with what we do not understand.
Make sure you understand before leaving class.
Don’t assume anything. Teach us, make us understand.
Be clear and patient.
One-on-one help.
Give more homework and less tests.
More time to do work in class go slower.
I can’t comment on that because this is the first time I have attended this college.

5. What could SKCTC, the college, do to help all Developmental Math students be more successful?
Just make sure they know that they can speak up if they don’t understand.
Help them decide if they are undecided what field to go into so they will have something to look forward to and get interested in the math they will need for that career!
Have more tutoring sessions.
To teach the students all they can so they will learn better.
There is not much more they can do. They offer tutors and most of the teachers are helpful.
I have no complaints with the classes I have took.
I think that the remedial courses and the tutors are enough.
Have the classes at convenient times, and make sure the class “load’s” reasonable.
Watch for the instructors who are not good.
Tutors are helpful.
Have more math classes at more times, night classes and summer.
Make sure the instructor is a patient, caring person who makes themselves available.
Talk to enrolled students and see if they understand.
They could raise money for calculators for students.
Give a break between class.
Probably the teachers need to spend more time explaining the material.

Make sure all their professors who teach these classes have great patience and knowledge of the course and enjoy doing it.

7. Describe how you feel about learning Mathematics.
I enjoy learning math.
Love it! I didn’t rearlly understand it until I had Mrs. Cooke before and now. So now, I understand more and have learned a lot.
Well I am heavy equipment operation so I have to learn it.
I like learning mathematics it will help me to get into the program I am applying for.
I have never been any good at math so therefore I do not like anything about math.
Never like it, but it’s growing on me with a good instructor.
It’s my worst subject. I’m not at all interested and it makes it easier that its’ explained simple.
I like math because it is not wishy-washy. There is a certain way to solve the problem.
It is fund if you can understand it, if is taught easier a way to understand.

8. What advice would you give fellow students to help them be successful in Developmental Mathematics?
If confused, please don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Be interested in learning and loving to learn and listen which is the tools to good learning I believe.
Pay a lot of attention and take real good notes.
To hang in there and they will learn and not to give up.
Attend class regularly and study hard and you will be successful.
Take Mrs. Cooke she teaches at a great pace and explains it to the fullest.
Before they take the course that counts if you needed some help take a remedial class to help you remember it.
Practice.
Take good teachers who are recommended and know how to teach the subject.
Ask questions, learn as you go, don’t wait.
Stay with it. Don’t give up. You can’t move on without it.
Try to get Mrs. Cooke for a math instructor.
Pay attention to the teacher.
Study more but not too much.
Do homework and study hard.
Pay attention and ask lots of questions if you need help.

Listen carefully and if you don’t understand ask questions.
Just listen and ask a lot of questions don’t be embarrassed about speaking up. That is what the teachers are there for.
Go to class everyday and get a good teacher.
