I have had a hard remembering the formula you apply to get answers.

I have had a hard time understanding anything in math courses. I don’t have someone explaining it to me so I can understand it.
Had algebra freshman year in high school.

4. What could the instructors do to help all Developmental Math students to be more successful?
Explain all the steps needed to solve the problems.

Better explain all types of problems.
Explain better how to work with the problems.
Show patience. Progress more slowly.
Explain more on the procedures.
Make sure all students understand the method before moving on.
They could evaluate each student and spend more time with those struggling with the course.
Slow down and explain things better.
Go at a slower pace.
Teach at a more moderate pace.
Explain step-by-step how to do things and make sure that no one is left behind.
Explain step by step the processes and rules.
Strive to make those students be more determined and have more self-esteem.
Maybe take the time to explain things better.
Just take things step by step, not skip around and help students to make logical sense out of math.
They could go over some algebra so they can be prepared to a higher math class.
To make sure the students don’t have any questions.
More one-on-one study time with the students.
Just be patient and tell the students daily they all improving and doing well.
5. What could SKCTC, the college, do to help all Developmental Math students be more successful?
Not sure.
I have no clue.
Send them to tutors more.
Change professors, I know someone that was in Arnett’s class, and she made the algebra harder to understand than what it really is.
Provide more than one instructor per term.
Study and get help from the tutors.
More flexible tutor hours.
I don’t know.
Most of the teachers expect a student to walk in a classroom and expect them to pick it up and fly with it.
Just offer more help.
This I do not know.
Make sure everyone gets what is being taught, and telling them they are doing well if they are.
Provide more tutors and aids that are involved in math.
Not make the class seem to be a level below the others.
Make the classes smaller so each student will be able to get the help they need.
Tutors.
They could help the students more about algebra.
Making sure the teachers are teaching the students.
More teachers involved to have more of a one-on-one ratio.

I feel it is important But I enjoy Math some people don’t.
I like it. It’s kind of hard for me though.
I do not like math, and wouldn’t be taking it if I didn’t have to.

It’s alright, it’s not good but it is necessary.

8. What advice would you give fellow students to help them be successful in Developmental Mathematics?
Be in class everyday there is class.
I don’t know.
To go over the problems until they get it, to study more if needed.
I wouldn’t know because I don’t know what the course of study is in developmental math.
Study a lot, and find someone to help you.
Don’t take Arnett’s class.
Endure, for it too shall pass.
Learn all the steps to help prepare for the next math class.
Take this time, and learn the material.
Study hard and pay attention in class.
Try hard.
Just work really hard.
If you don’t understand, see tutor and ask questions.
Take notes, come to class, ask questions, and work extra problems to make sure you get the concept.
Don’t miss class, take all the notes you can, be attentive and ask for help if you need it.
Have more self-confidence and be more determined to learn.
Pay attention in class and do your homework.
Just take it for what it is and not try to read too much into it.
I could show them how to do some algebra.
When you don’t understand ask the teacher or the tutors for help.
Really work hard and strive to do good. You only get out of it what you put it.
