Study hard.

I feel that I had good teachers that I understood how they explained to do things.

What I feel makes me successful is doing my best and trying my hardest at something I want. Unsuccessful when I don’t try as I can and I fail.
Showing up for class, doing homework, and taking notes make you more successful.
I didn’t use algebra regularly in everyday life, so I forgot most steps.
I believe what makes me successful within this developmental math is that I try my best, do what I asked and work along with the instructor.
Desire to succeed outweighs possible deficiencies in certain areas of study – setting goals, and obtaining them promotes positive reinforcement in final accomplishments.
Ms. Cooke for Basic Algebra – if I did not have her I would never succeed. She worked with us until we got it. Mr. Phipps for Intermediate - he caused me to understand higher concepts.

4. What could the instructors do to help all Developmental Math students be more successful?
More one-on-one help.
Anything.
Take more time to give examples.
I think they do a good job.

One-on-one with each student for 10 to 15 minutes once a month.
Not much.
Work individually on each student’s level.
Explain the material thoroughly.
Be available and have a little more understanding with the non-traditional people.

I believe they are fine at what they are doing.
If time and budget constraints would allow, focus on alternative processes of learning – not everyone learns the same – perhaps workshops which go deeper into the understanding of each subject.
I feel that all the teachers are giving 100% in the class and during their office hours.
5. What could SKCTC, the college, do to help all Development Math students be more successful?
Offer more personal interaction.

Love it!
