QEP Committee Meeting
October 14, 2005
The QEP Committee met on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. via ITV.
The following members were present: Robin Haggerty, Wheeler Conover, Chuck Sturgill, Millard Robbins, Odell Wilson, Rick Mason, JoAnn Martin, David Clutts, Peggy Conklin and Ruby Sparkman.
Meeting was called to order by Robin Haggerty, Chair.
Minutes from last meeting were approved and there were no additions to the agenda.
Odell Wilson reviewed several pilot projects with committee using Elmo and handouts. These included discussion of the traditional method, use of Plato, modifying delivery format, E-instruction, Synthra and others.
JoAnn Martin discussed the need for formal tutor training. Wheels asked the tutor present if she had had any formal training at Southeast and she answered no. JoAnn is researching other colleges’ tutor training programs and will report at a later date.
David Clutts discussed the adjunct faculty survey and the academic advising surveys
Chuck Sturgill discussed the Advising Handbook and things that should be included in it. Handout provided. . Robin suggested the handbook be on-line with Wheels in agreement so the off site review committee would have that link also.
Peggy Conklin stated that
Rick and Robin reviewed data from student surveys – what made you successful or unsuccessful?
The idea of having someone other than the committee to supervise the pilot programs was discussed and agreed upon.
Robin will present what has been accomplished at the faculty meeting.
With no other comments or suggestions, the meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
