Bell County Society of Engineers Donates to College During the past 10 years the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers of Bell County have staged an annual golf tournament in order to raise money for scholarships on behalf of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College and the students enrolled on the Middlesboro campus.
During its most recent tournament held last summer, the organization raised $1,000 which has been donated to assist students on the Middlesboro campus in the purchase engineering textbooks. The presentation was made Feb. 18 during the monthly meeting of the KSPE in Middlesboro. According to Dr. Judy Leonard, director of development for Southeast, the "generous" donation has been added to the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign total. The campaign has been in progress since last year with approximately $4-million already generated.
Other monies raised in the campaign will be used to fund college-wide initiatives such as endowed student scholarships, student leadership workships, the Southeast Scholars Program, the EXPLORE College Fund, the equipment and technology fund endowment and other capital projects on each of the five Southeast campuses.
"We are certainly appreciative to the Kentucky Society of Professional Enginers of Bell County for their continued support of the college. KSPE of Bell County has been an active benefactor to the college for over 10 years," said Dr. Leonard.
