Center Stage Players Provide Holiday Cheer

The Center Stage Players presented their annual holiday

production of a revision of Charles Dickens ?A Christmas Carol.?

Presented in the Edsel Godbey Appalachian Center on the

Cumberland campus for a total of six performances, the play attracted

over 1,500 school children from across the area. The production was

adopted for the stage by Theater Arts Program Director Michael

Corriston and Dianne Corriston.

In addition to the performances for the students, a public

performance was held Dec. 12.

The cast featured 25 actors from throughout Harlan County.

Additionally, students from Southeast, local high schools and

elementary schools filled out the cast roster.

?The cast worked extremely hard to prepare for the production,?

said Mrs. Corriston. ?It all came together beautifully, and we tried hard

to provide a performance that not only moved members of the audience

but also provided a realistic glimpse of Christmas as celebrated in 19th

Century London.
