BellSouth golf event raises funds for Thompson Scholarship For the past two years BellSouth employees have sponsored golf tournaments to raise funds for the Christopher Mark Thompson Scholarship Endowment at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
The most recent tournament held at the Middlesboro Country Club in October raised over $4,000 for the fund that provides scholarship help for students enrolled in technology fields who reside in Bell and Harlan counties.
Chris Thompson, son of Freeman and Alvena Thompson, was a gradaute of Southeast and was employed by BellSouth at the time of his death. The Chistopher Mark Thompson Fund was started in his memory in 2003 by BellSouth.
"We are delighted to accept these generous gifts each year," said Dr. Bruce Ayers, president of SKCTC. "BellSouth and the family and friends of Chris have been most diligent in their efforts to continue to fund this scholarship endowment in memory of such a fine young man."
