College is host to Technology Boot Camp



Sponsored by the Information Technology and Telecommunications Department of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, the 6th annual Technology Boot Camp was held recently on the campus at Cumberland.

The ’06 camp attracted approximately 100 participants with the majority of participants being college faculty and educators from the public school systems of Harlan, Bell and Letcher counties.

According to Rhona Creech, SKCTC’s TV production manager: “The event is a way to reach out to the faculty and staff of Southeast and to educators in the region. We use the camp to help sharpen the skills of our college employees and to keep us all up to task,” she said.

Courses offered and instructors for this year: (Blackboard) Paige Brooks-Jeffers, KCTCS Systems Office; (Digital Photography) Bart Massey, Hazard Community and Technical College; (Fun With Clip Art) Richard Call, SKCTC; (Dream Weaver and Cascading Style Sheets) Dr. Gary Gibson, SKCTC; (Technology Tidbits) Robbie Goan and Mary Hunley, SKCTC; (ITV Training) Karissa Austin, Tonya Glispie, Christa Dunn and Tony Sweatt.
