I want to encourage you to complete the Learning College assessment that is being made available to you.

As you know, one of our institutional goals is to determine the applicability of the Learning College concept as a guiding principle for Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Under the leadership of Sheila Miracle, committee chair, we have taken several steps down that road, and, while all signs are promising, your completing this assessment will give us a good idea of where we are in the Learning College process and where we will need to go.

This assessment will be on the web for sometime, and we will be asking all of our employees and students to complete it.

Criteria For A Learning College

These criteria can serve as a comprehensive and practical framework for assessing a college on its progress toward becoming a learning college and identifying where to focus its efferts for improvement. A number of these criteria have been implemented in some colleges on an individual or departmental basis. Aggregating them in this format stresses the importance of change that is institution-wide and thus tryly characterizes a learning college.
