NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) is able to provide sufficient documentation that the Institution has sound and acceptable practices for awarding or accepting course credits. Faculty, Chairs, and the Chief Academic Affairs Officer are involved in the different levels of assistance for the approvals and evaluations of all coursework.
Course proposals originate in an academic program or division, where they are reviewed by the program faculty to determine if they meet the general scope of that program, are appropriate in content for the proposed credit to be awarded, and contain appropriately-challenging content for the level at which the credit is to be offered. If a proposal passes successfully through the departmental review process, it is forwarded to Program Development Committee, where a similar review is conducted. The PDC is a committee of the Faculty and is composed of representatives from each academic division. Proposals that are approved by the PDC are then subject to additional review by the Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College Faculty [1] prior to being forwarded to the KCTCS Curriculum Review Committee [2] and KCTCS Council [3], who review the proposed course or curriculum. Once new courses and curricula are approved, they are added to the KCTCS Catalog [4].

Consistent practices on the awarding of credit are followed at SKCTC regardless of the delivery method, including traditional, online, and other forms of distance education. Method of delivery of on-line course content is determined by the instructor, just as in traditional classes. Instructors personalize standard course content, create online assessments, and establish timelines for course assignments and tests. Course syllabi state the same learning outcomes and award of credit, regardless of delivery method. Credits assigned and instructional modes are included in the SKCTC Schedule of Classes published each term [6].
