NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) publishes academic policies in a variety of both printed and electronic formats to make them available to students, faculty, and other interested parties. SKCTC policies are disseminated in print through the Student Handbook (pp. 11-15 Rules Relating to Attending SKCTC) [1], Rules of the Senate (Section V. Rules Relating to Attending a KCTCS College) [2], Faculty Handbook [3], and the KCTCS Catalog (pp. 60-73 Academic Services) [4]. Students and faculty have access to all these documents electronically via the SKCTC [5] and the KCTCS Web Pages [6].
Academic policies and curricula;
Courses and academic offerings;
Policies and regulations governing admission classifications, probation and dismissal of students;
An academic calendar generally consistent with that of KCTCS;
All candidates for degrees and certificates;
Criteria for faculty appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure;
Changes in the Rules of the Senate of KCTCS and
in the KCTCS Board of Regents Policies and
Administrative Policies and
Procedures
Additional responsibilities are delegated to the College’s Program Development Committee and Rules Committee and are set as follows:
Program Development Committee:
Recommend to the Faculty concerning new courses, course changes, and the dropping of courses.
Recommend to the Faculty concerning new
curricula, curricula changes, and the dropping of
curricula.
Recommend to the Faculty, upon request or upon
its own initiative, concerning the needs of the instructional program of
Southeast Kentucky Community and
Perform other responsibilities as delegated to it by the Faculty or by the Executive Committee.
Rules Committee:
Codify the Rules of the Faculty of Southeast
Community and
Recommend to the Faculty, upon request or upon
its own initiative, any modification of the Rules of the Faculty of Southeast
Kentucky Community and
Make continuous evaluation of the Rules to meet new conditions.
Perform other responsibilities as delegated to it by the Faculty or by the Executive Committee.
All publications are updated regularly to ensure that the principles of good educational practice are followed. Print materials are updated on a calendar cycle; however, changes in electronic documents are updated as necessary.
