2005-06 DUTIES AND GOALS:  WARREN GRAY

 

INTERNAL SERVICE                                                                                      GOALS

 

Serve on college committees as assigned.

Will serve on the following committees:  Professional Development, LRC Advisory, Non-Recurring Bonus, Appalachian Center/Museum, Academic Support Center, Community College Appeals Board, ad hoc committees as assigned

Teach/offer professional development workshops and continuing education classes.

Will offer professional development workshops in library usage on the Harlan and Pineville campuses; will offer Continuing Education classes about Russia and/or China

Serve in college leadership.

Will serve on the President's Leadership Team of the college and take an active role in planning and participating in the SACS re-accreditation process.

 

 

EXTERNAL SERVICE                                                                                    GOALS

 

Participate in cultural activities in the community.

Will sing in the Southeast Community Chorus, play parts in Southeast's Drama program as the opportunity arises, provide music at functions as needed, and assist with the Kingdom Come Swappin' Meetin'.

Serve on area boards.

Will serve on the board of the Harlan County Public Libraries.

Serve the community's social needs.

Will assist with the medical ministry of the Meridzo Center.

Offer community education classes to the community.

Will teach Internet Research classes for the Harlan Works program, offer CE classes in African history, and serve as Day Chair for the education session of Leadership Harlan United.

 

 

 


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT                                                               GOALS

 

Maintain active memberships in professional organizations.

Will maintain membership in the Kentucky Library Association, including its Community College Roundtable and Academic Section. 

Attend professional conferences.

Will attend annual meetings of the Kentucky Library Association, the KLA Academic Section, and the KLA Community College Roundtable.

Attend appropriate workshops and training sessions.

Will attend scheduled KDLA-provided workshops in PowerPoint and the future of technology in libraries.  Will attend SKCTC Annual In-Service and other workshops.

 

 

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP                                                                       GOALS

 

Serve as an institutional representative within KCTCS.

Will participate actively in the KCTCS Library Resources Work Group, attending its meetings, participating in its online discussions, and serving on its committees.

Serve in leadership in professional organizations.

Will chair an ad hoc committee to review and revise the Kentucky Library Association's Academic Section bylaws

Serve as Director of Library Services for the district.

Will administer the libraries, including the supervision of personnel, setting of policies, administering the budgets, reporting, purchase of online databases, etc.  Will use survey results and various funding sources to improve library services and materials on all campuses.

Provide library services to all campuses.

Will provide weeding/acquisitions services for the Harlan and Cumberland campuses and assist on those campuses with circulation, inter-library loan, reference, and library instruction as needed.

 


2005-06 DUTIES AND GOALS:  LISA AHLSTEDT

 

INTERNAL SERVICE                                                                                      GOALS

 

Participate in SKCTC Committees

Continue committee service on Learning Resource Center Committee, the Professional Development Committee, the Safety Committee,

The Fall Festival Committee, the Wellness Committee, the Web Governance Committee and the Christmas Committee.

Work to make the SKCTC chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges more visible and active on campus

Arrange a panel program on domestic violence for students and the community; send local chapter news for inclusion into the national newsletter.

Exceed success of previous year's "Yoplait Day" project.

Exceed the $200 contribution that SKCTC sent to the Komen Foundation, by raising money during Yoplait Day for breast cancer awareness

Serve as consultant/assistant for Middlesboro/Pineville faculty and staff web projects.

Assist faculty and staff who need to put information on web pages, or update existing websites.  Work with the SACS and QEP committees to put their information on the SKCTC website in preparation for SACS visit.

Expand recycling project.

Continue to take all recyclable materials from the library to recycling center on a bi-weekly basis.  Purchase and distribute can recycling boxes to reduce waste and earn money for campus organizations.

Serve Middlesboro-Pineville UNITE chapter.

Use UNITE funding to provide drug education programming for students.

Serve on Campus Identity committee.

Will establish a campus identity for the Middlesboro campus along with other committee members.

Re-establish KET programming on campus.

Attend meetings with KET representatives to get digital KET programming on campus.

Assist with workshops during faculty orientation and during the year in professional development workshops.

Work with colleagues to present relevant and timely topics related to the library and websites.

Maintain membership on the KCTCS Catalogers' committee

Will continue membership on the KCTCS catalogers' committee and attend workshops and meetings as they become available.

 

 

 

 

EXTERNAL SERVICE                                                                                    GOALS

 

Establish program for feral cat spaying/neutering in Middlesboro city limits.

Work with Friends of the Shelter to obtain funding for feral cat spaying/neutering; attend online seminars on feral cat programs and funding opportunities; establish a relationship with local vets for reducing costs.

Become active in Knoxville Friends of the Library.

Work with their annual book sale and in any other requested capacity.

Become an active volunteer in Team Knoxville.

Volunteer to assist the Knoxville Tourist Board with duties such as assisting at conventions and sporting events.

Become a volunteer with Baptist Hospital.

Get on the rotation list to assist with special events and projects as needed.

Become active member in local and national Mensa chapters and volunteer as necessary

Attend annual national meeting as Hospitality Team Leader and Registration volunteer.

Hold continuing education workshops

Hold workshops on Internet/email related topics, as well as entering sweepstakes, creating websites, and vocabulary development.

Volunteer with Kentucky Book Fair

Serve as regional volunteer to help publicize the book fair.

Serve on the Fall Festival Board

Continue to serve on the Fall Festival Board and assist with design and updating of their webpage and other duties as requested.

Assist in grant preparation.

Assist the family literacy program with grant preparation.

Take continuing education courses that pertain to my work and interests.

Complete KYVU Javascript course; continue to take SKCTC yoga course; begin courses at UT in investigational research.

Attend professional meetings.

Attend KSUG users group meetings in the spring and fall if held in appropriate locations; attend state-wide Kentucky Library Association annual meeting, and serve as session moderator as needed.

Attend professional training

Attend Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives Style Sheets training session.

Maintain memberships in professional organizations

Will maintain membership in the Kentucky Library Association, its Academic Section and the Community College Roundtable; will maintain membership in the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries Community and Junior College Libraries Division, and the Literature in English Section, as well as the International Relations Roundtable.

 

 

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP                                                                       GOALS

 

Will be responsible for collection cataloging, maintenance and repair.

Continue to catalog all new materials as they arrive at the library; periodically review the collection for items in need of repair; perform repairs if possible on damaged items; perform periodic check for items missing since last inventory; remove items from the collection and online catalog that are damaged or missing; perform database maintenance such as removing duplicate records when requested; maintain course reserves section of the library.

Will provide library services at the Pineville campus

Establish and maintain permanent hours at the Pineville campus; provide library services at the Pineville library; supervise one workstudy student there; maintain the Pineville collection; assist faculty, staff and students with reference, interlibrary loan and orientations as needed; order materials for the Pineville library as funds become available and spend any budget that might be allocated.

Serve as back-up Interlibrary Loan person

Perform Interlibrary Loan duties when the regular employee is unavailable; provide materials from the Pineville collection when needed for Interlibrary Loan.

Perform reference duties.

Continue to perform reference duties by working at the front desk of the library; provide library orientations for individuals and groups who request it; conduct adjunct faculty library orientation session; assist with Pineville library faculty orientation.

Complete library pathfinders for Pineville programs

Compose library pathfinders for the programs on the Pineville campus to guide faculty and students to relevant materials both in the library and online in their areas of interest.

Apply for Kentucky Book Fair grant

Apply for funding for collection development in Pineville location.

 

Work with Middlesboro Collection Development

Continue to donate subscriptions to magazines to Middlesboro campus; continue to make periodic visits to secondhand bookstore in Knoxville to find free or reduced materials for the libraries.
