The Red Fox
Marissa Carter

Pitter patter, little feet
In the woods, who should I meet?
Little fox so sweet.
Little babies in her den
Cry for their mommy to come again.
Little fox, little fox go see your babies.

Valentine's Day
Cari Westfelt

Valentines Day
17 days away.
I will make red hearts,
and buy my love some sweet tarts.
I will give out cards, pretty cards,
of little dogs playing in their yards.

A Christmas Poem
Cari Westfelt

God is high,
high in the sky
these two lines are not a lie.
God may be shy
very shy
But he will be there
when I die.

Birds
Vanessa Buell

Beautiful, wonderful birds!
Song birds, hummingbirds.
Pretty birds sitting in the trees.
Moving so fast.
Beautiful coat of feathers,
so pretty in blue weather.
Eating worms -
featherless worms.
Coming out in the day
and sleeping at night.
I love birds' singing
that sounds so nice
and their beautiful feathers
in the sunlight.

Squirrels
Tommy Chasteen

Gray squirrel living in a tree.
Eating nuts with your big, sharp teeth.
Why do you build your nest up there?
Looks like a bird's world to me.

Bats
Kelly Craig

Bats are blind.
Bats are cool.
How do they see?
Do they bathe in a pool?
Bats are silly.
Zippy. Zappy.
Flying around
all flippy, flappy!
Bats are mammals,
Did you know?
Instead of feathers
they have fur that grows.

Lizards
Tiffany Walker

Fast and free,
eating flies and bugs.
I like lizards.
Too good for pets.
Changing colors
to whatever they please.
Living in trees or logs
or anyplace they can fit.
Small creatures, running fast.
Some poisonous
some deadly,
but I think they are neat.

Raccoon
Tiffany Yeager

Raccoon, raccoon
Why do you have a stripey tail?
And fur that is black and brown?
And a black mask on?
Why do you live in a hole in a tree?
And eat mice and frogs?
And live near water?
Why are you so beautiful?
And sit there in that tree?
Staring at me?

The Red Headed Woodpecker
Sarah Collett

Pecking on wood,
very peckable.
Pecking on trees.
Leaving holes
where you've been
pecking with your red head
shiny in the sun.
Peck! Peck! Peck!

Turtles
Gerald Skidmore

Walk so slow!
They got big feet
and strong legs
and big sharp toes.
Sometimes they keep
their head in their shell
and sometimes out.
They eat ants and grass
and worms and get fat.
Sometimes they crawl
up and under leaves

and fall asleep!
