§         Establish an educational channel on the local cable outlet

To launch at least three major initiatives through the Office of Community and Business Development and continue to serve as a partner with the community in all areas of economic development, with particular emphasis to be given to:

§                     Continuing the development of industrial sites at strategic locations in our service area and the recruitment of business and industry;

§                     Working to increase the importance of cultural tourism, with the establishment of portions of Benham and Lynch as either a National Historical Park or a National Heritage Area;

§                     Planning for a Visitors’ Center on U.S. 23 in Letcher County and on U.S. 25E in Bell County

§                     Supporting new opportunities for sustainable development through origination and expansion of innovative programming, including aquaculture, arts and crafts design, and videography.

To establish closer working relationships with the public schools through:

§              The offering of in-service workshops and seminars for faculty and staff;

§              The availability of course work for high school juniors and seniors;

§              The establishment of a telelinking network in Harlan, Bell, and Letcher counties that includes the public schools
