About the Archives
The Appalachian Archives is a part of Southeast
Kentucky Community and Technical College, a two-year institution
with the main campus located in Cumberland, Kentucky and branch
campuses in Harlan, Pineville, Whitesburg, and Middlesboro,
Kentucky. The Archives collects artifacts documenting the history and
culture of the central Appalachian coalfields.
The Archives, which is also a part of the
college's Appalachian Studies program, is dedicated to making its
holdings accessible to everyone and in helping people in the
mountains document and preserve their own history and cultural
expression. The Archives is located in the Godbey Appalachian Center
on Southeast's Cumberland campus.
