Student Festival

The Appalachian Center invites all Southeast students to participate in creating a student-run arts, music, and creativity festival in the Spring of 2008. The idea is to help students create an event that gives people a chance to see what they can do, celebrate the talent around here, and have a good time.

We can imagine a festival involving many different forms of expression. Singing, songwriting, solo musical performance, bands, dancing, writing, photography, digital art, film & video making, drama, drawing, painting, cartooning, graphic design, sculpture, pottery, fabric art, storytelling, tattoos, skateboarding—it’s all good.

This event IS NOT figured out yet. It doesn’t even have a name. Some money is set aside for the festival, and staff in the Appalachian Center will help out in making it happen, but the name and exact shape of the festival is to be determined by the students who sign up to make it happen.

Anyone interested in more information about the festival may contact me. Anyone interested in signing up as a participating artist/exhibitor or as one of the organizers can fill out the attached sign up sheet and email it back to me. Elana Scopa (escopa0001@kctcs.edu or 589-3061) in the Adult Education office and Karissa Austin (karissa.austin@kctcs.edu or 589-3091) in the ITV lab in Falkenstine Hall are also helping get this event organized. Please contact one of them for more information. After giving everyone who wants to a chance to sign up, we will call an organizational meeting and go from there.
