In May 2003 ceramic tile mosaic workshops led by
SKCTC art professor Joe Scopa, Rose Cohelia, Joyce Ogden, and
Ogdens public art students at Spalding University in Louisville
took place at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church, Comprehensive Care
health care center, Holy Trinity School, and Pine Mountain
Settlement School. The purpose of the workshops was to give everyone
participating experience in making art with ceramic tile. Over a
hundred people participated in the workshops.

The workshops were the beginning of a three-year
project to create large, permanent, public works of art designed and
produced by local people. Joyce Ogden showed examples of the work
that her students did in Louisville including the forty-foot long
curvilinear bench.
